Pileaupoil is a 20 years old french artist studying in “les Beaux Arts”

💖

She has always wanted to work with the body. First, she started by drawing some body she find on Pinterest and then she thought “What if I create the pictures instead of drawing pictures of someone else?”
And, this is the result.

“I started this project last year only with my camera in my bedroom with white walls, but now I can use the studio that we have at school to shoot with models. “

What does feminism/ being a feminist means to you?

Feminism is important and we all need feminism. Women die because they are women, therefore we need feminism. I think being a feminist is being aware of what our ancestors fought for. Being a feminist is waking up every day and fighting the patriarchy by going to work, wearing whatever we want, being at job meetings and raising children at the same time, not raising children, being married, not being married, kissing whoever we want, fucking whoever we want (always with consent OF COURSE), shaving our legs, letting our hairs grow, getting a new haircut, getting 10 tattoos, growing up, learning a new instrument, doing art, being art, shouting, screaming, laughing, crying… Well, being whoever the fuck we want to be. And swearing whenever the fuck we want.

😍

What would be your message to young girls around the globe?

My message to all the young girls around the world would be: be there for each other. Unity is so strong. Being a woman in a men’s world is hard enough, we can’t be against each other! Communication, compassion, empathy, support and respect for the future.

💁‍♀️

What keeps you sane in this insane world?

I don’t think that I’m sane haha, but I think that if you’re surrounded by healthy and sane people who loves you and support you, you can be a little bit sane in this insane world. I still have hope for humans and I think we can all change the bad things in this world into good things.

🙌

How do you support other women in your field/ in your life? How do you think we should?

I’m lucky to have open-minded women in my life. I talk to them a LOT about feminism, so we can have many conversations and see the opinions of each other about those subjects. I also recommend them a lot of books or articles I read or documentaries I saw. Sometimes they get tired of me haha but I know they support me and I support them too.

Fun fact about you

I asked my friend a fun fact about me and she told me that I have a meme face like everytime, even when I’m doing nothing she just looks at me and laughs because she saw a meme in me. I don’t know how to deal with this, haha!

🚀

If you would have to send an art piece/human/ invention to an intergalactic competition to represent Earth, what would you choose?

Oh my god, I love this question haha! I don’t know, I could send them Rick Astley’s song “Never gonna give you up” but I also could send them all of the Harry Potter books, or Niki de Saint Phalle’s art, or the book “Les sentiments du prince Charles” by Liv Stromquist, or the TV show Brooklyn Nine Nine haha I don’t know, I can’t choose!
